Our Vision

LIVING ARCHIVE

We seek to create a permanent “living archive” for Subud USA’s archival history of Subud, Subud’s founders, and its community of organizations and members.

INTERACTIVE HUB

The Archive will be active and interactive, a hub, far more than a storage vault.

HISTORICAL SOCIETY

An associated Subud Historical Society will engage Subud members to share in our history, and our common experiences…to help us grow and bring the latihan to life.

PUBLIC VISIBILITY

The Society will also face outward, sharing Subud’s history with people interested in spiritual matters and possibly joining Subud.

Our Mission in Progress

  • We aim to set up a perpetual, self-sustaining home for the U.S. Archives at the Amani Center in Washington DC, under the auspices of Subud USA (SUSA).
  • The materials will be preserved safely and securely while at the same time being accessible online and in person.
  • An online portal will share the Archives and offer related activities and projects.

Bapak’s Call to Action

The duty and responsibility of the International Subud Committee, the chairman and all his assistants, is to…arrange for the preservation of the archives and all historical materials relating to the development of the Spiritual Brotherhood of Subud

— Letter to ISC and all National Committees, December 16, 1976

My teaching and Subud work have taken me to 105 countries around the world. I am especially interested in how the learning, wisdom and shared experiences in the Archives can be actively applied in our lives in the global Subud world, and how we can introduce Subud to interested persons and groups, such as interfaith organizations.
